The Merrick Library advises that you take at least one month to try to locate a missing item before you pay for it. If you do pay for a missing item and subsequently find it in good condition within thirty (30) days of making said payment, you will be reimbursed for the cost of the item, minus any overdue fines. The reimbursed amount will be mailed to you within forty five (45) days of receipt of the item. You must have the receipt that was issued to you when you paid for the item in order to receive any refund.
If the item in question was out of circulation for six months or more, you will not be reimbursed, even if the item is found within 30 days of payment.
This arrangement applies only to Merrick Library items. An item borrowed from another Library, once lost and paid for, may not be returned for reimbursement.
